Giant Swarm today had to let go of amazing people
by Oliver Thylmann on Mar 30, 2023
Today we are sharing some of the most difficult changes we’ve made in Giant Swarm’s history. We’ve decided to reduce the size of our team by 11% and have had to let go of amazing and talented people.
How did we get here?
We overestimated possible future growth with an amazing 2021 and 2022, where we doubled our team. Unfortunately, this did not play out the way we expected. The macroeconomic downturn has caused our revenue growth to be much lower than expected. We were too optimistic for the world we’re living in right now, and take full responsibility for that.
We have explored many options to improve efficiency and reduce costs. While these measures have succeeded to some extent, we find that we must reduce our workforce to ensure the financial stability of the company, and to navigate through the uncertainty ahead in 2023 and 2024.
We had to take action, so we can continue to operate as a sustainable business, be a reliable partner for our customers, and enable us to reach the future we plan for without relying on outside funding. The difficulty of this decision reflects our steadfast commitment to our values: people-first, transparent, and in control of our destiny. Our future remains unchanged; we are secure on our path toward our customer’s success.
We deeply apologize to those affected.
As we believe everyone that works and has worked for Giant Swarm is extraordinary, we’d love to help our affected colleagues find new opportunities. If you have any open positions or know of any, please reach out to me and I can connect you with some really amazing people.
